The legal team of deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday finalised the petition challenging the Al-Azizia verdict.
According to sources, the petition argues that the defence counsel’s arguments were not heard thoroughly by the court and requests to declare the accountability court verdict null and void.
The petition will be sent to Sharif for his signature before being submitted in court.
It is pertinent to mention that only three days are left to challenge the accountability court verdict.
On December 24, an accountability court announced the verdict in two National Accountability Bureau references and punished Nawaz to seven years in prison apart from imposing a $25million and Rs1.5 billion fine.
The court also seized all the properties owned by Sharif.
The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader is currently imprisoned in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail for being found guilty in the Al-Azizia graft case.
