Motorcycle entry banned in Islamabad’s high security zone

ISLAMABAD: The federal caretaker government has banned entry of motorcycles in the high-security zone of Islamabad, ARY News reported citing sources.

According to sources, the capital city administration and police have decided to ban the entry of motorcycles in Islamabad from November 1.

Sources said that motorcycles will be parked in Convention Centre and the shuttle service will be operational from Convention Centre into High Security Zone.

The decision was taken to control the traffic flow in Islamabad’s high security zone meanwhile the citizens can use alternate routes to and from Bari Imam.

Yesterday, Islamabad Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief along with other party workers protesting against Israel’s brutality in Gaza Strip were picked up amid clashes between police and protesters at capital’s Serena Chowk.

JI Islamabad chief Nasrullah Randhawa, spokesperson Aamir Baloch, Kashif Chaudhry among others were picked up amid clashes between police and protesters on Serena Chowk where the law enforcers fired into the air and resorted to teargas shelling to disperse the people.

The protestors also pelted stones at the police in response to baton-charged and teargas shelling. The religious party accused the law enforces of trying to stop the protest, organized against Israel’s brutality in Gaza strip.

It is pertinent to mention here that JI will begin its protest rally from Abpara Chowk in Islamabad, in solidarity with Gaza strip where Palestinians facing an incessant bombardment from the occupation forces of Israel.

The administration has not allowed entry of the rally participants to the Srinagar Highway, high-security zone.

A convoy of the party has left Peshawar to participate in the rally. A convoy comprises of 30 vehicles has reached motorway interchange.
