Met Office forecast rainfall for Pakistan’s upcountry

ISLAMABAD: The Met Office has forecast rainfall in upper parts of the country after likely entry of a westerly system on Wednesday (today) morning that will be active till 20th April.

The heatwave conditions are likely to continue in Sindh, south Punjab and parts of Baluchistan till 18th April.

Under the influence of the westerly wave rainfall is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Battagram, Buner, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Orakzai, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat and Tank districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 16th to 20th April.

Rainfall is also expected at Murree, Galliyat, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the same period with occasional gaps.

Isolated hailstorm may also occur during the forecast period.

Moreover, dust storm and rain is expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Mianwali, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Khushab, Jhelum, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh on 16th April and from 18th to 20th April.

Meanwhile dust storm or gusty winds are expected in southern Punjab districts of Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, Multan, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Vehari and Okara on 18th and 19th April.
