MULTAN: Nishtar Hospital Multan on Monday issued medical history of the woman who allegedly died because of negligence of Pro-Vice-Chancellor Nishtar Medical University Dr Ahmed Aijaz Masood, ARY News reported.

According to the report, the late patient, Saima Madni was once admitted to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital Lahore for cancer treatment. It said she was diagnosed with cancer in 2017. She was also given treatment at Nishtar Hospital, it added.

On the other hand, spouse of the deceased, Mohammed Madni had alleged that the doctor had given Saima wrong treatment. He had claimed that his wife had tuberculosis, while the doctor treated her for cancer.

Madni had shot at and injured Dr Ahmed Aijaz Masood in the leg. In a video message, he had said that he shot the doctor because his mistake led to the death of his spouse. He had said he wanted to teach the doctor a lesson.

“They don’t understand the pain and agony the patients go through or the trauma the families face in case of death of a dear one,” he had said.

Condition of Dr Masood is out of danger now.

The Pakistan Medical Association had threatened to shut down OPDs at public hospitals if the assailant was not arrested.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident.
