Oscar-winning Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey is set to reunite with ‘True Detective’ for a film based on Mike Hammer.

Nic Pizzolatto, who created the HBO crime series, will write the script for the film based on the iconic private investigator character Mike Hammer, as per Variety.
Matthew McConaughey starred in the first season of the ‘True Detective’ series alongside Woody Harrelson in 2014.
The report followed Skydance’s acquisition of the rights to Mickey Spillane and Max Allan Collins’ ‘Mike Hammer’ franchise, with plans to adapt the bestselling book series into a feature film.
Earlier this month, Nic Pizzolatto confirmed discussions with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson for a return to the show.
In an interview, the writer-director confirmed having held discussions with the two Hollywood stars, who are “are open to it.”
“It’s not something I’ve written or anything, it’s just in my head, and we’ve talked about getting back together and doing it. I think the guys are open to it, it’s just a question of whether that would ever happen or not,” Nic Pizzolatto said.

Meanwhile, Matthew McConaughey is set to return to the screen with a starring role after six years in disaster thriller ‘The Lost Bus.’
The Apple TV+ film follows “a wayward school bus driver (Matthew McConaughey) and a dedicated school teacher (America Ferrera) [who] battle to save 22 children from the terrifying inferno,” according to the official logline.
‘The Lost Bus’ is scheduled to release on Apple TV+ and select theatres in Fall 2025.
