The lioness named Kajol has given birth to a healthy cub.
The zoo administration said the gender of the cub could not be determined for 15 days. It said the highly possessive nature and furious attitude of lioness towards intruders can also result in deaths of cub by her own hands.
The wildlife experts will enter the cage after 15 days to determine gender of the new cub.
The administration said it is required to take extra care of cubs and all such endangered species.
