LAHORE: At least four people were killed and 15 injured when a truck carrying load of milk overturned in Lahore this morning, ARY News reported.
According to rescue officials, the injured were immediately moved to district headquarters hospital, where five of them were declared critical. Our correspondent reported that 20 people were perched on the truck when it turned turtle as a result of speeding.
The hospital administration referred the critical injured persons to another hospital for immediate treatment.
Police said speeding resulted the fatal accident, while further inquiry was underway.
In a fatal accident around five days ago, at least eight people had lost their lives and 20 others including children and women were injured in a collision between a passenger bus and trailer near Indus Highway, Dadu.
The passenger bus was heading to Karachi from Larkana. According to police, the fatal mishap occurred when both the vehicles tried to overtake each other due to intense fog.
The injured and the bodies were moved to Civil Hospital Dadu. Some of the victims were also moved to hospital in a police mobile. In a similar fatal incident on Nov 3, at least seven people were killed and 23 were injured when a bus collided with a truck in Zawa, area of Khuzdar, Balochistan.
According to an estimate, around 9,000 road accidents are reported every year in Pakistan, claiming more than 4,500 lives on average annually.
