PESHAWAR: Angry protesters set the building of Radio Pakistan Peshawar on fire and vandalized the provincial election commission office, according to a report released by authorities.
The report delineating incidents of arson and rioting in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province said that 50 protesters were arrested in Peshawar and 40 detained in Swabi.
Protesters set 10 vehicles ablaze including an ambulance, while anti-narcotics department’s vehicles and two motorbikes of Ababeel Squad were damaged.
Angry mobs also attacked the Frontier Constabulary (FC) forts in Chakdarra and Timergrah, according to report.
Protesters also looted laptops, fans, office furniture and arms, report said.
“Peshawar to Islamabad and Charsadda to Islamabad Toll Plazas were set on fire, while Kohat University attacked, its gate broken premises vandalized”.
Moreover, CCTV cameras installed at dozens of check posts were damaged, according to the report.
Peshawar police has registered four cases in Eastern police station, which also include charges under the anti-terrorism law.
