Karachi unrest case: SC bench terms police report unsatisfactory

KARACHI: The Supreme Court bench, during a hearing of Karachi unrest case, on Monday declared the police report unsatisfactory, ARY News reported.                                                                 

The SC bench remarked that crimes could not rooted out of society until criminals were prosecuted. The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Tassaduq Hussain Jillani also took notice of installation of jammers around jails.

The SC bench headed by the CJ, comprising Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Khilji Arif ordered that such jammers be installed surrounding jails that may only affect a limited area.

Additional IG Karachi Shahid Hayat Khan also turned up in the court and presented a report regarding Karachi law and order. According to the report, challans of 175 criminals, involved in target killing, murder, abduction, extortion and other heinous crimes, were presented in the Anti-Terrorism Court, while over 7,000 cases were pending in the sessions court. The SC bench termed the report unsatisfactory.                                

The chief justice, while taking notice of son of a session court judge, observed what could be a big terrorism than this activity.

The SC bench will resume its hearing on Wednesday.
