K-Electric set to hike power rates

According to details, Karachi power utility had requested to the NEPRA for hike in the per unit power cost for the consumers of the city. The electric power regulator, after the hearing, agreed to hike the electricity rates by Rs. 0.36 per unit.

K-Electric had suggested to Nepra for a hike in per unit power tariff by Rs. 0.45 with the plea that power generation via local means turned out to be expensive, but the electric power regulator approved per unit increase by Rs. 0.36.

The rates have been revised due to fuel adjustment in the month of June.

The new rates will be included in electricity bills of the consumers for the month of September.
