ISLAMABAD: A number of journalists besieged deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif on the premises of an accountability court on Tuesday to protest against the torture of a private TV channel’s cameraman by his security guard.

Media personnel held a protest against the violence inflicted on the cameraman and demanded the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) supremo to tender an apology over the incident.

Journalists also exchanged heated words with the security guards and lawyers of Sharif.

On Dec 17, the deposed premier’s guard tortured Syed Wajid Ali Shah, a senior cameraman belonging to a private TV channel at the Parliament House.

Taking notice of the incident, Sharif directed a party leader to ensure proper arrangements for the cameraman’s treatment.

Sharif, condemning the incident, said he and his party respects the media community and he will ensure no such incidents take place in future.
