TEHRAN: The two-day joint economic commission co-chaired by Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli and Abdul Qadir Baloch Pakistani Minister for States and Frontier Regions has kicked off in Tehran.

According to statement, the two parties are expected to follow up the implementation of the agreements reached during the 19th Iran-Pakistan Joint economic Commission held in Pakistan in December 2014.

They will also explore new ways to further enhance economic, trade and banking cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

The previous session of the joint commission was held in Pakistan on December 8, 2014, where Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyebnia headed the Iranian delegation.

Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoust reported in February that trade between Iran and Pakistan over the nine months to December 20, 2016, increased by 35% compared with the preceding year’s corresponding period to stand at $805 million.
