ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday dismissed defamation case filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shireen Mazari against Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, ARY News reported.
IHC judge Justice Athar Minallah heard Mazari’s petition against Asif today.
The PTI leader’s counsel, in his arguments, informed the court that the defence minister called his client a “tractor trolley”.
The judge asked the lawyer as to which fora they sought justice on which the lawyer replied that they had submitted their complaint to the standing committee of the National Assembly and a complaint to Speaker Ayaz Sadiq but it wasn’t heard.
The judge, after reviewing the arguments, dismissed the case with the remarks that the courts could not interfere in the matters of the Parliament under Article 69 of the constitution.

The issue erupted when Asif was speaking in the House, claiming that country was facing no load-shedding of power during Sehr and iftar hours in Ramazan. The statement drew ire of the opposition who reacted to the minister’s statement sharply, calling it wrong.
Islamabad High Court (IHC) on 26th September admitted Mazari’s petition seeking disqualification of Asif for using unethical language against her for hearing.
She had made Ministry of Law & Justice, Speaker NA, federal minister for parliamentary affairs and Khawaja Asif as respondents in the plea.
