GILGIT-BALTISTAN: The government of Gilgit Baltistan (GB) is setting up small power generation projects to overcome energy shortage in the area.
In this regard, foundation stone of 3.5 mega watt (MW) hydel power project at Bagrote will be laid tomorrow (Friday), Radio Pakistan reported.
Ground breaking ceremony of one MW hydel power station in Danyore will also be performed the same day.
Both power projects would be completed at a cost of 645 million rupees.
Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman will perform ground breaking of these projects.
On the other hand, power generation of Neelum-Jhelum hydel power project has crossed 1000 megawatts of electricity, above its designed capacity of 969 megawatts.
Earlier in April, Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) said the power generation above the designed capacity of the project demonstrates the high quality of the hydro-electrict project.
