Heartbreaking Kasur incident prompts outpouring of emotions

KARACHI: The horrific murder and rape of a 8-year-old girl in Kasur has incited strong reaction from people of all social strata, demanding justice for her.

Shocked by the tragedy, politicians, cricketers, civil society activists and celebrities couldn’t hold back their emotions and took to Twitter and other social media platforms to vent their anger.

In a statement on his official Twitter account, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan said: “The condemnable & horrific rape & murder of little Zainab exposes once again how vulnerable our children are in our society.”

He added, “This is not the first time such horrific acts have happened. We have to act swiftly to punish the guilty & ensure that our children are better protected.”Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said: “Deeply pained about murder of a 8-year old girl in a child molestation case.”

“Those societies that cannot protect its children are eternally condemned. Not going to rest till the perpetrators of this dastardly act are apprehended & given severest possible punishment under the law.”Former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharaf condemned the murder of Zainab, demanding that those behind the incident should be awarded a maximum punishment.

PTI leader Asad Umar said, “First an innocent child is killed and then those demanding justice get fired upon by the police. This is what happens when you let punjab police murder innocent people in model town and no one is held accountable.”Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, daughter of PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari tweeted: “She was only 7 years old !!! Zainab was an innocent child and she was horrifically tortured & murdered, my heart breaks for her family. May Allah give them strength.”Famed actress Mahira Khan tweeted, “Find him!!! Do what it takes to find him and make an example out of him for Gods sake !! An example which scares anyone to even think about doing something like this again.”Actress Mawra Hocane said, “Ya Allah is qadar Zulm or Jahalat! We should truly truly be ashamed of ourselves as a Nation. What’s the point for #JusticeForZainab when there are countless Rape & Murder cases in line for justice?”

Actor Fahad Mustafa said, “Feel sorry for you mera bacha. Justice has to be served this time. May Allah rest your soul in peace. Ameen.”

Pakistan cricket player Shadab Khan said, “My heart goes out to Zainab and her family. It is important to address these issues and bring the people responsible to justice. We must stand united as society against such barbaric crimes.”Cricketer Muhammad Hafeez tweeted, “#JusticeForZainab , Being a Father just can’t imagine the pain of Parents after this, condolences to her parents & Alarming situation to Society we r living in , Govt should do Prompt action against the Culprit & give justice to ZAINAB.”

Pacer Junaid Khan said, “Heartbreaking to see another child become victim. Unbelievable that no criminal has been arrested till now. Political issues should be set aside and all should join hands to find a solution for this. Raise your voice if you belive the criminals should be hanged.”

Muhammad Amir said: “I am heart broken, gutted and disgusted what sort of society we r living in heart goes out to the parents… #JusticeForZainab.”Artist and speaker Muniba Mazari tweeted, “Horrific!!! A 7-year old angel raped. What kind of a society are we living in????”
PPP leader Naz Blaoch said, “I am at a loss of words to express the pain I feel for little zainab & her family. The 7 yrs old child abused & murdered by a savage in Kasur. Child protection is a responsibility of every sane citizen, let’s pledge to be vigilant if we see any child vulnerable.”
