KARACHI: Residents of the metropolis received some respite on Saturday from the scorching weather as the sea breeze blew through the city, neutralizing hot and dry weather after the mercury soared past 40 degrees Celsius during the last two days.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the sea breeze brought the mercury down today after two straight days of the heatwave.
A weather department official said the sea breeze will continue to blow in the next 24 hours while the minimum and maximum temperatures in the city will remain at 27 and 38 degrees Celsius, respectively.
He said humidity in the sea breeze was recorded to be 51 per cent.
Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country today. However, rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Zhob divisions, Islamabad, upper FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, according to the PMD.
During the past 24 hours, Balochistan’s Turbat and Sindh’s Mithi remained the hottest cities of the country with temperature touching 46°C. Temperature in Shaheed Benazirabad, Hyderabad and Dadu was recorded 45°C.
