TOP NEWS

According to details, Khursheed Shah told that the government has accepted the suggestion of reducing the assembly term.

He elaborated that the government agreed upon setting a period of four years for the assembly to govern the country, which is supposed to take place after the next general election in the country.

However, legislation regarding the four years tenure will be made by the sitting assembly.

Currently the National Assembly [lower house of the bicameral Parliament of Pakistan] has a constitutional tenure of five years.

The government was suggested to reduce the tenure as many of the senior politicians, analysts and common people were of the view that in case of an incompetent political party rose to power, people have to suffer for a long period of time.
