Heads of Pakistan Army and Pakistan Navy were supposed to attend the gathering at the GHQ. The Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif was the chief guest.
Invitations were also sent to the parliamentarians to attend the Defence Day gathering.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and other high ups were also expected to make it to the ceremony.
