ISLAMABAD: A large number of lawyers gathered at Supreme Court premises in federal capital Islamabad on Wednesday to accord dignified send off to Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on the last day of his tenure, ARY News reported.
A full court reference of the Supreme Court was underway in the honour of the outgoing Chief Justice of Pakistan attended by the judges and prominent lawyers.
Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, Chief Justice of Pakistan-designate, in his tribute to Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, said the learned CJP worked wholeheartedly for the supremacy of the constitution and law.
Supreme Court Bar boycotted the full court reference.
Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani will assume the charge as the new Chief Justice of Pakistan on Thursday (tomorrow).
