Four electrocuted in Lahore

LAHORE: Four people electrocuted to death while removing an iron billboard from the rooftop of a shop in Shahdara in Lahore, Rescue officials said on Wednesday.

“The iron billboard installed on the shop touched electricity wires caused death of four persons by electrocution,” officials said.

Eyewitnesses said that the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) force had asked the shop owner to remove the signboard installed on the shop.

“Shopkeepers while not finding an electrician, were themselves removing the signboard to avoid an FIR”, an eyewitness said.

Four persons identified as Nadeem 45 year, Noman 25, Awais 26 and an unidentified man died in the incident.

In another incident a nine-year girl Rameen was passing through the rainwater near Lahore’s Shalimar link road with her brother when she was sticked to an electricity pole, but she miraculously survived when her brother pulled her from the pole.
