LAHORE: The Punjab Police on Saturday arrested former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Farhat Farooq in connection with the ransacking and vandalising of Jinnah House, ARY News reported.

Police said the suspect was traced through geofencing, adding that she would be produced before a court for further legal action against her.

Meanwhile, another suspect identified as Awais Mushtaq has been arrested in the Jinnah House attack case.

Taking to Twitter, the PTI has claimed that its former MPA Farhat Farooq has been arrested from her house and has been taken to an “undisclosed location”.

The party further said the husband of the “elderly woman” was “extremely ill”.

It is pertinent to mention here that several politicians, activists, and members of former ruling party including the son-in-law of a former army officer, and fashion designer Khadija Shah are facing trial in an anti-terrorism court in the wake of the attacks.

On May 27, Punjab Home Department constituted a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe vandalism and arson at Corp Commander House (Jinnah House) in Lahore on May 9.

According to a notification issued by the department, SSP Investigation Iqbal Town Aqeela Niaz Naqvi has been appointed as the convener of the JIT.

The JIT includes four other officers of the provincial police force, the notification stated.
