Internationally recognized fashion designer Mehmood Bhatti has once again come under public scrutiny as fresh allegations surface regarding his personal and professional conduct, including his long-standing claims of philanthropy and unresolved legal disputes.
In a recent development, Bhatti’s wife has filed a family maintenance case in the Lahore Family Court, accusing him of emotional, physical, and financial abuse. The petition added a new dimension to the controversies surrounding the designer, who has consistently portrayed himself as a charitable figure and self-made entrepreneur.
At the center of the controversy is a decades-old property dispute with his elder brother, veteran legal expert Munir Bhatti. Court records and Mehmood Bhatti’s own autobiography, Paris Main Dusra Janam, confirm that he voluntarily granted a general power of attorney to his brother in 1987.

Further doubts have been raised by a recent viral YouTube documentary which challenges Bhatti’s claim of a Rs130 million theft from his hospital office.
The film alleges that investigations by the Punjab Police, the Civil Court, and the High Court have all rejected his petitions due to a lack of evidence, declaring the accusations unsubstantiated.
In response to these claims, Mehmood Bhatti has strongly denied any wrongdoing. Speaking to media outlets, he asserted that he is being targeted because of his philanthropic initiatives. Bhatti maintained that his work supporting orphans, the impoverished, and the vulnerable has attracted envy and hostility from detractors with ulterior motives.
“My intentions have always been sincere. These allegations are nothing more than attempts to tarnish my reputation,” Bhatti stated, reaffirming his commitment to charitable causes.
