ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday dismissed separate petitions seeking ineligibility of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, ARY News reported.
Petitioner Manzoor Bhatti, in his petition, asked how PM Sharif can travel to London for medical treatment when the nation cannot afford it in their own country. He also said that prime minister should be asked under which law he was treated in the British capital.
The petitioner has claimed in his plea claimed that several millions of rupees were spent on the premier’s treatment abroad from the national exchequer.
The election commissioner, in its remarks, stated that the electoral body has nothing to do with PM Sharif’s treatment and advised the petitioner to contact the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) in this regard.
Meanwhile, the commission also rejected a petition seeking disqualification of PTI Chairman Imran Khan as a Member of National Assembly (MNA).
Abdul Rauf, in his petition, claimed that Imran Khan owning an offshore company in the name of his sister. He claimed that the PTI chief depositing Zakat money in his company and asked the commission to disqualify him from the parliament seat.
The commission rejected the petition by terming it incomplete.
