ECP completes all preparations for July 25 elections

ISLAMABAD: The spokesman of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that all preparations have been completed to conduct general elections on time.

Spokesman to the Election Commission of Pakistan Nadeem Qasim said that close circuit television cameras would also be installed at sensitive polling stations.

He says the ECP reaffirms its commitment to hold forthcoming general elections on time and in a free, fair and transparent manner.

The spokesman said that CCTV cameras would also be installed at sensitive polling stations.

To a question, he said international observers were coming to Pakistan to observe the whole process of general election.

The spokesman said ECP was also providing accreditation facility to media and other organizations in this regard.

The official said that around 3,70,000 Pakistan Army personnel would be deputed inside and outside the polling stations across the country, while 17,000 polling stations had been declared sensitive.

According to ECP, 5,878 of the polling stations declared as highly sensitive were in Sindh province, 5,487 in Punjab and Islamabad, 3,874 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA, and 1,768 in Balochistan.

The officials said that among total 85,307 polling stations, 23,424 will be for male voters, 21,707 female, 40,133 combined and 43 improvised ones,to be set up in all the four provinces, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and the Federal Capital to ensure better turnout on the polling day.

“As many as 47,813 polling stations would be set up in Punjab, 17,747 in Sindh, 12,634 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 4,420 in Balochistan, 797 in the Federal Capital and 1,896 in FATA.”
