Prominent televangelist, TV host and former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain was born on July 5, 1971 at Karachi.
He did his graduation in Islamic Studies from the University of Karachi. Then, he received a master’s degree in Islamic history from the Federal Urdu University. He holds a PhD degree in Islamic Studies from Malaya, Spain, in 2002.
Dr Aamir Liaquat is grandson of late Sardar Ali Sabri, a veteran journalist of the Subcontinent who had given the title of Quaid-i-Azam to Muhammad Ali Jinnah. His father was an activists of the Pakistan Movement and his mother, late Mahmooda Sultana was the first woman columnist of Pakistan and close associate of Madar-i-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah.
In 2002, he was elected to the National Assembly on the ticket of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and served as Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Zakat and Ushar Division. He, however, quit the ministry and the National Assembly membership after parting ways with his party because of differences over a religious issue in 2007.
He has penned three books and won several gold medals as the best orator of Pakistan. He has also earned the title of the best Naat Khawan of Pakistan and has recited several Naats, CDs of which are available in market.

He has also made it to the list of the 500 most influential Muslim personalities. Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre included him in its list because of his popularity, non-sectarian ideology, and for being a staunch advocate of peace and tolerance.
Dr Aamir Liaquat rose to fame with his religious and literature nature programmes, especially Aalim Online. He became one of the most influential media personalities and hosted the most TV shows and Ramazan transmission because of his professional excellence and effective presentation of ideas and sentiments as an orator.
He recently joined the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
