Defence lawyer cross-examines witness in assets case against Dar

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court in Islamabad on Wednesday resumed hearing into the assets beyond means case against former finance minister Ishaq Dar, ARY News reported.

Accountability Judge Muhammad Bashir was seized with the hearing of the case in Islamabad. The defence lawyer cross-examined witnesses Muhammad Aftab as co-accused Naeem Mehmood and Mansoor Raza appeared in the court.

In the previous hearing, the court had recorded statement of prosecution witness Salman Saeed, an official of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) while the defence counsel cross-examined another witness Sidra Mansur.

The court had earlier on February 13 approved the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)’s request to produce two more witnesses in the reference against Ishaq Dar.

During the course of the hearing, NAB requested the court to allow it to present two more witnesses, including SECP official Sidra Mansur and Salman Saeed before testimony of the Panama joint investigation team Wajid Zia and the investigation officer in the case.
