Legendary South Africa pacer Dale Steyn broke down in tears while celebrating the side’s historic victory in the World Test Championship (WTC) final.

South Africa sealed a five-wicket victory over Australia in the WTC final a day earlier at Lord’s, their first ICC title in 27 years.

The victory came after years of heartbreak as South Africa faltered in the finals of several ICC tournaments.

During an interview with a foreign media outlet, former fast bowler Dale Steyn was filled with emotion as he celebrated his team’s victory in the WTC final.

A viral video of his interview showed the former speedster lost for words while describing his feelings after South Africa won an ICC tournament after a 27-year wait.

“What do you do, what do you say? It’s incredible, I’m sitting at home, I’ve got my cap here, I’m extremely proud. I mean, what do you do? I’ll take my son for a walk and life will carry on,” said Steyn as he showed his South Africa Test cap.

Overcome with emotions, Dale Steyn was then seen getting quiet and wiping tears as he managed to gesture a thumbs up.

It is to be noted here that Temba Bavuma became the first captain to win the WTC final unbeaten.

During this WTC cycle, Bavuma led his side in eight games, with the Proteas winning seven and drawing one.

Overall, the South Africa captain has led the side in 10 Test matches, winning nine and drawing one, meaning he is still undefeated.
