LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Punjab police claimed to have arrested two suspected terrorists, said to be associated with a proscribed organisation, during a raid in Gujranwala, ARY News reported.
According to CTD officials, the terror suspects were arrested during a raid near Pasrur Road. They were identified as Muhammad Nawaz and Ghulam Mustafa.
Arms and explosive material were recovered from their possession, a CTD official said, adding the held suspects used to collect donations for a terrorist outfit and target law enforces.
It is pertinent to mention here that the law enforcement agencies have launched a crackdown against banned outfits under the National Action Plan (NAP). The action against banned outfits is said to be in line with the decisions made during a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) in January this year.
Earlier, on March 7, the Ministry of Interior had said so far 121 people belonging to banned organisations had been taken into preventive custody.
