Several local players reached there and put off the fire and strongly protested against the incident after raising slogans and cricket bats in the air.
They said that this was a conspiracy against cricket and that miscreants were trying to threaten the players and instill fear in them to discourage them from the sport.
The equipment in the pavilion belonged to a local cricket club and was completely burned in the incident.
The Police have taken the watchman Saeed Ahmed of the cricket ground into custody. He said that he had gone to sleep after which the incident took place after 3 o’clock at night.
