Video of CM Balochistan distributing money in Gwadar given ‘negative twist’

CM Balochistan Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Hidayat ur Rehman, Gwadar sit-in,

QUETTA: A video of Chief Minister Balochistan Abdul Quddus Bizenjo distributing money during a sit-in in Gwadar, on the day it was called off by Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) provincial general secretary Hidayat ur Rehman after successful talks with the government, has gone viral, ARY NEWS reported.

A spokesman for Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) Abdul Rehman Khetran has clarified the acts in the video saying that the chief minister distributed money among poor women and children who were attending the sit-in.

“It is a tradition in Balochistan to give money for chadar to mothers and sisters while visiting their home,” he said while lamenting that the entire episode was given a negative twist to foil successfully negotiated talks with the people staging a sit-in in Gwadar.

The spokesman further added that even Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman who was leading the sit-in has denied claims of the chief minister distributing cash to end the protest.

The protesting fishermen in Gwadar on Thursday called off their month-long sit-in after successful talks with the government. Maulana Hidayatur Rehman, who was leading the protest, announced to end sit-in after an agreement was signed with the provincial government.

The agreement was signed by Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Qudus Bizenjo and Provincial General Secretary Jamaat Islami (JI), Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman.
