Army chief signs death warrants of four ‘hardcore terrorists’

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Major General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday signed death warrants of four ‘hardcore terrorists’ who were involved in heinous crimes including murders of citizens and personnel of armed forces and security agencies, ARY News reported.

The four terrorists, namely Riaz Ahmed son of Ghulam Khan, Hafeez-ur-Rehman s/o Hafeez-ur-Rehman, Muhammed Saleem s/o Muslim Khan and Kifayatullah s/o Dilrez belonged to banned organizations, media wing of armed forces Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.

The damned terrorists killed 16 persons and injured eight others, moreover, they also destroyed public schools, said the ISPR.

Pakistan Army had arrested the four culprits in an operation and recovered weapons and explosive materials. The terrorists were given chance in military courts to clarify their position through arguments, however they failed to prove themselves innocent, the media wing added.

Pak Army spokesman said the military courts also sentenced 23 terrorists to life imprisonment on proven guilty.
