As a result of the killings, traders blocked the road in protest. The Capital Development Authority seemed determined to clear the city of encroachments but it seems had no plan in sight on how to protect citizens while doing just that. During an operation by CDA to clear encroachments within the precincts of the Sabzi Mandi Police Station, some electricity wires fell down.
As soon as the wires well down, electric current spread around and as a result of the resulting electric shock, two persons died on the spot while another was injured. In order to protest the loss of life and the operation as well, angry traders blocked the main road.
Even after the loss of life it seems like authorities are in no mood to listen to the grievances of the masses.
