ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Foreign Minister Abdullah Hussain Haroon on Wednesday said terrorism remains a big challenge for Pakistan.
Addressing a seminar in Islamabad, he pointed out that recent terrorist attacks in Bannu and Mastung clearly indicate that more needs to be done to get rid of terrorism.
The minister, however, acknowledged that the country certainly has contained the menace over the last few years and the terrorist elements are not that much strong as they were once used to be.
Highlighting the challenges on the foreign policy front, the foreign minister said there are also plenty of opportunities for Pakistan which have not yet been tried.
He stressed the need for redesigning and reframing policies for the betterment.
Turning to the issue of water shortage faced by South Asian region, the interim foreign minister said that the Indus Water Treaty is not sacrosanct and both India and Pakistan need to settle their water related disputes.
It merits mention here that the recent terror attacks on election gatherings killed more than 150 people in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
