It’s been over 30 years since Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise last shared the big screen in Interview with the Vampire, and although both stars remain top names in industry, a reunion film between them still isn’t on the cards.

In a recent chat about his new movie F1, Brad Pitt reflected on his past with Tom Cruise, recalling fond memories of their time together in the 1990s, including racing go-karts.

While Tom Cruise recently praised Pitt’s F1 movie and encouraged fans to watch it in cinemas, Brad Pitt was quick to return the compliment, calling it a thoughtful gesture.

However, when asked about the possibility of working with Cruise again, Pitt made it clear that it all depends on the type of film.

He joked that he’s not interested in performing the kind of extreme stunts Tom Cruise is known for like hanging off planes in Mission: Impossible and would only consider a collaboration if it’s something more grounded.

The two actors remain connected in more ways than one. Pitt’s F1 film is directed by Joseph Kosinski, the same filmmaker behind Cruise’s hit Top Gun: Maverick.

In F1, Brad Pitt plays a retired Formula One driver who returns to the sport to mentor a young talent, played by Damson Idris. The film is set for release on 27 June, just after the premiere of Cruise’s next Mission: Impossible instalment.

Brad Pitt has a packed schedule ahead, with roles in the upcoming Heart of the Beast alongside J.K. Simmons, and a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood titled The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth, this time directed by David Fincher.

Meanwhile, Tom Cruise is also keeping busy. He’s expected to return for a third Top Gun film and a sequel to Days of Thunder, as well as star in a new comedy directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, set for release next October.

So while a Brad Pitt- Tom Cruise reunion isn’t happening anytime soon, fans can still enjoy both stars in high-profile projects just not in the same film, unless Cruise decides to keep his feet on the ground for a movie like Interview with the Vampire.
