According to a tweet by the General Manager Public Affairs/Official Spokesperson PIA Daniyal Gilani, a bomb threat was received early morning at the airport due to which three flights were delayed. However, he also informed that the flights had been cleared and were about to depart soon after thorough checking and clearance procedures had been implemented.

At first, the flights were awaiting clearance after the bomb threat had been received.

In June 2014, the Karachi International Airport was attacked by a group of militants and scores of people were killed. After the incident, Pakistan Army launched the Operation Zarb-e-Azb to eliminate the menace of terrorism.
