Jammu blast

JAMMU: A grenade explosion at a bus stand in India held Jammu and Kashmir wounded at least 18 people on Thursday, police said, in an attack just weeks after the Pulwama incident, almost sparking a war.

“I request everybody to maintain calm,” Jammu’s police chief M.K. Sinha told reporters at the site of the blast. “We are chasing all leads.”

Jammu is the winter capital of the held Kashmir valley where tensions are running high following the Feb 14 attack in Pulwama district.

Earlier, on Feb 14, a convoy of vehicles carrying security personnel on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethpora in the Pulwama district of India-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The attack resulted in the death of more than 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and the attacker. The responsibility for the attack was claimed by the militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed. A local youth named Adil Ahmed Dar was identified as the attacker.
