The area is plagued by violence, with separatists seeking greater control over the province’s rich oil, gas and mineral resources and gunmen have previously targeted outsiders seen as settlers.
“Armed gunmen stormed the camp of labourers in Gokh Don area of Baluchistan late Friday night and killed 20 labourers,” senior police official Tariq Khilji told AFP.
He said those killed were all from outside the province — 16 of them from Punjab and four from Sindh province.
The incident, which occurred around 1,050 kilometres (650 miles) southwest of Quetta, was confirmed by Akbar Hussain Durrani, a senior administration official in the province.
“The labourers were working on construction of a small local bridge,” he said.
Hussain said some of the labourers reported being woken from their sleep by the sound of gunshots and screams.
“They had lined them up and shot them at point blank range after identifying their identity,” he said.
Hussain said paramilitary troops were guarding the labourers but fled when confronted by a large number of armed attackers.
Nobody has claimed responsibility for the incident but Hussain said insurgents have attacked non-Baluch settlers in the area in the past.
Law enforcement agencies have launched the search operation for the arrest of terrorists involved in the heinous killing.
CM Balochistan
Chief Minister of Balochistan, Dr. Abdul Malik has strongly condemned the killing and asked authorities to arrange helicopter to shift dead bodies of the workers to their home town.
Dr. Malik has also announced to hand Rs. 1 million each to the survivors of deceased and Rs. 50,000 each to those who got injured.
Furthermore, CM Balochistan will visit Turbat to chair high level meeting regarding the incident occurred.
Condemnation
Prime Minister Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has strongly denounced the killing of twenty labourers.
In a statement, the Prime Minister has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the incident. He has sought report of the incident.
PM Nawaz has reaffirmed the government’s resolve to eliminate terrorism from the country.
Federal Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan contacted CM Balochistan Dr. Abdul Malik, and condemned the brutal killing of construction workers.
Chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain while denouncing the incident demanded immediate arrest of terrorists.
In a statement, Altaf Hussain said those who shed the blood of innocent people have no religion adding that they neither deserve to be called a Muslim nor human.

I’m afraid we don’t have good news for Pakistani supermodel Ayyan’s fans. The glamorous female was apprehended by customs officials at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport for carrying an undisclosed amount of money which is not permitted as per Pakistani law.
Ayyan was all set to board a flight to Dubai via when a staggering amount of $500,000 was discovered from her luggage, stashed away. As per customs regulations, this much amount cannot be whisked away by a traveler and that too, undisclosed. An inquiry into the matter has been initiated and Ayyan has been booked under the offense of money laundering.
As per the law, only $10,000 can be carried by a traveler traveling from Pakistan to abroad and authorities should be informed in advance regarding that amount. Hundreds of MQM workers formed a chain against Rangers when they raided partyâs headoffice, but no one among the protesters resorted to violent approach in registering their protest. All of them were shouting slogans against the law enforcers and chanting in favour of their party chief Altaf Hussain.
Waqas Shah was also among the frontline protesters when Rangers were pushing back the demonstrators to complete their search operation sans any impediment.
In a TV footage captured at the moment, party supporters were seen confronting the Rangers personnel, however Waqas Shah was behind his party men and did not engage neither in scuffle nor bickering with law enforcers.

Amid the pushing and shoving between protesters and paramilitary men, gunshots were heard and the very next moment Shah was seen lying on the ground having fatal bullet wounds. DG Rangers Sindh categorically disputed the MQM’s claim that gunshots fired by Rangers man at party activist and said paramilitary forces do not use pistols.

The Rangers said there was no resistance during the raid, but television footage showed Rangers soldiers firing gunshots while leaving the offices.
A “huge quantity of weapons and ammo” were seized in the raid, said Colonel Tahir Mahmood, who was leading the team, told reporters outside MQM headquarters.
“The finding of weapons carries a question mark and we will investigate it,” Mahmood said.
MQM condemned the raid and insisted that the weapons were all legally held.

“It was all licensed weapons issued to the MPs of the party,” senior MQM leader Haider Abbas Rizvi told a wire service correspondent.

During the raid, a heavy contingent of Rangers cordoned off the area and searched through departments of the party’s offices.
Rangers arrested several MQM activists and leaders including Amir Khan.
According to details, Rangers personnel conducted a two-hour long search operation and also cut off telephone lines of Nine-Zero.
A huge number of MQM workers gathered in front of Nine-Zero soon after the search operation commenced. Slogans were chanted against the law enforcement agencies.

Rangers Spokesman Colonel Tahir, while talking to the media, said arms and ammunition stolen from NATO containers were recovered during the search operation. He said that during the course of the search operation, weapons whose import had been banned in the country were recovered from the Nine-Zero premises.
He disclosed that dozens of suspected party workers had been arrested during the raid, adding that not even a single MPA or MNA of MQM was detained. He however, confirmed that MQM Rabita Committee member Amir Khan had been picked up for questioning regarding the criminals that had been apprehended from Nine Zero. He stated that Amir Khan will be asked to explain as to why these criminal elements were being sheltered at Nine Zero.
He said the raid was conducted after information of the presence of several convicted criminals was received.
“Investigation will be conducted and results will be shared with the media”, he added.
Colonel Tahir appealed to transporters and traders to carry on their routine work.

The Rangers Spokesperson also disclosed that a total of five suspects involved in the killing of journalist Wali Khan Babar were apprehended during the search operation. Disclosing the names of the above mentioned suspects, he said that Faisal Mota, Farhan Shabbir alias Mullah, Ubaid alias K-2, Amir and Nadir were the ones taken into custody. Wali Babar was a journalist who was gunned down in the Liaquatabad area whilst he was driving for home from his office. The reporter was shot dead in the Super market police station area on 13th Jan 2011. He used to report on militancy, drugs, crime and land grabbing violence that ensued between Karachiâs political parties.
Situation after raid
MQM has announced peaceful protest countrywide which generated panic in several cities of Sindh including Karachi.
Following uncertain situation, All Private Schools Association announced the closure of schools while University of Karachi postponed all papers scheduled for today.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s sister Saira Aslam’s residence was also raided by Rangers personnel as part of their ongoing search operation.
Altaf issued a warning statement that if anything unfortunate were to happen to his sister, Rangers should be held accountable. Altaf Hussain’s speech is expected anytime soon.
Faisal Sabzwari’s clarification
Leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Faisal Sabzwari has strongly condemned the killing of party worker Waqas Ali Shah  during Rangers’ raid at Nine-Zero by saying “Our party worker was shot at ‘Point Blank Range’”, ARY news reported.

Speaking to media today, Faisal Sabzwari said weapons recovered from Nine-Zero during the search operation are all licensed while party having Interior Ministryâs permit for all prohibited arms and ammunition.
Briefing about the reason of keeping weapon inside the party headquarter, he said MQM has received several threats from militants and being asked to enhance security by government and intelligence agencies.
Faisal Sabzwari appealed Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and DG Rangers to take notice of party worker killing and violence on women.

Rangers deny MQM’s allegation
Rangers denied MQM’s allegation that LEA personnel killed party worker Syed Waqas Ali Shah by saying “He was gunned down with the bullet fired from TT pistol which Rangers don’t use”.
The statement was issued by DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akber.

MQM Senators today condemned the raid on party headquarter Nine-Zero declaring it as the revenge for not supporting the government in Chairman Senate elections.
MQM Leaders Nasreen Jalil, Shirala Mallick, Anwaarul Haq Thanvi and Babar Khan Ghauri strongly condemned the raid conducted y Rangers at party headquarter and killing a party worker Syed Waqas Shah, injuring a cameraman of a private TV channel and arresting scores of party workers.
They said raiding the residence of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain’s sister was unjust. They have demanded Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif to order investigation into the incident.
