    Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s message conveyed to Nawaz Sharif

    LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) MNA Chaudhry Salik Hussain has conveyed an important message of his father, party’s president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif, ARY News reported on Saturday.

    According to details, PML-Q MNA Chaudhry Salik Hussain called on former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif in London and conveyed an important of his father Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

    During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the country’s political and economic situation. Hassan Nawaz received the PML-Q MNA upon his arrival.

    Talking to journalists after the meeting, Chaudhry Salik said that he has requested the PML-N supremo to return to Pakistan. However, he said, the former premier has not given any final date regarding his return.

    He also rejected the notion of dissolution of assemblies, noting that incumbent Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi did not take Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain into confidence before joining the government.

    He further said that Moonis Elahi can contact him anytime he wants. “We want to work together for the betterment of the country, not for personal gains, he added.

    Chaudhry Salik noted that Shujaat Hussain will be the president of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) till 2024. “He [Shujaat] will lead the party in the next election”, he said, noting that those who talked about removal of Chaudhry Shujaat, sit together in the same evening.

    “Shujaat Hussain has a big heart and even responds to the calls and meet those who opposed his presidency of the party”, he added.

    In response to a question, the PML-Q MNA said earlier in February, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) opposed the idea of immediate elections.

    Tasneem Haider’s allegations: Scotland Yard summons witnesses next week

    LONDON: British investigative agency Scotland Yard has summoned witnesses next week to investigate the allegations levelled by Tasneem Haider Shah, claimed to be PML-N’s spokesperson in London, against Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, ARY News reported on Sunday, quoting Haider’s lawyer.

    According to details, Scotland Yard has started investigation after Tasneem Haider Shah filed application against Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, accusing PML-N leadership of being involved in murder of senior journalist Arshad Sharif and attack on former premier and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

    In a statement, Haider’s lawyer – Mahtab Anwar Aziz – noted that the British investigative agency has summoned witnesses next week to probe the matter. “The agency is carefully examining the evidence”, he said, adding that Yard’s investigation officer (IO) would interview the witnesses.

    Mahtab Anwar Aziz pointed that the PML-N leadership have kept silent on the allegations levelled by his client. He also refuted ‘fake news’ regarding the stopping of proceedings by Scotland Yard on Tasneem Haider’s request.

    It is pertinent to mention here that Tasneem Haider Shah had levelled serious allegations against PML-N top leadership, claiming that the assassination plots against Imran Khan and slain senior journalist Arshad Sharif were prepared in London.

    While addressing a press conference in London today, he claimed that he held three meetings with PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif at Hussain Nawaz’s office in London. “I am associated with the PML-N for the last 20 years. I was summoned for the meeting to prepare a plot to assassinate Imran Khan and Arshad Sharif.”

    Shah claimed that he is ready to record his testimony before the investigation institutions of Pakistan. He added that Nawaz Sharif had asked him to start working on the plan after Maryam Nawaz reaches London.

    He revealed that PML-N was also aware of the journalist’s location in Kenya and he was told that Arshad Sharif will be assassinated in Kenya.

    LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Bahali Committee head Dr Farooq Sattar has been cross-examined in the MQM London properties case on the third day of proceedings at UK’s Properties and Business Division of the High Court, ARY News reported.

    Farooq Sattar was cross-examined by MQM Founder Altaf Hussain’s counsel Richard Slade in the MQM properties dispute case.

    Sattar, on the third day of proceedings, apprised the UK’s high court regarding the situation after Hussain’s controversial speech on August 22 – 2016 and the expulsion of the then party chief.

    Hussain’s lawyer questioned whether the MQM founder was removed from the political party by Sattar after being pressurised under Rangers’ custody. Sattar replied that there was no conspiracy in that decision as it was a unanimous decision for saving the political party from severe consequences.

    Sattar further detailed that Rangers questioned him about the persons who chanted controversial slogans and those who responded to the slogans.

    The lawyer further questioned whether he was pressurised by Rangers to expel the MQM founder from the political party. He said that Rangers did not force him to expel the MQM founder but it was his own decision.

    He detailed that the matter related to the expulsion of the MQM founder was not discussed in his conversation with Nadeem Nusrat. Sattar added he did not break any law as the party’s founder had himself announced to give control to MQM leadership in Karachi.

    He claimed that MQM Pakistan leadership had amended its constitution on August 31, 2016, and curtailed the powers of Altaf Hussain with a two-thirds majority.

    It is pertinent to mention here that another MQM leader Nadeem Nusrat will also appear before the UK high court to record his testimony.

    MQM Founder Altaf Hussain is facing proceedings before the UK high court after MQM Pakistan petitioned to get control of seven London properties worth over £10 million belonging to the political party.

    LONDON: In another fiery press conference, Tasneem Haider Shah, who claimed to be a spokesperson of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz on Wednesday vowed he will not back down from the allegations leveled against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. 

    Tasneem Haider Shah’s statement comes after he claimed that PML-N leadership contacted him and asked him to back down from the allegations leveled against the senior party leadership.

    “If I’m hanged or put in jail, I will not back down from my position.

    Tasneem Haider Shah said that he and his family are receiving ‘threatening phone calls’. Nasir Butt is a pawn, actually, Maryam, Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif are to be arrested, Shah added.

    Shah further said that JIT formed to probe the attack on former prime minister Imran Khan has contacted and recorded his statement, while, today, he will record the statement in front of the magistrate through a video link.

    The PML-N ‘leader’ claimed that he had made Nasir Butt the PML-N vice president, who promised to end the cases registered against him after becoming part of the murder conspiracy against Imran Khan.

    Earlier, Tasneem Haider Shah levelled serious allegations against PML-N top leadership and claimed that the assassination plots against Imran Khan and slain senior journalist Arshad Sharif were prepared in London.

    LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz along with their family have departed for Europe from London, ARY News reported on Monday, citing sources.

    According to details, the father-daughter duo along with the family departed for Europe this morning. It is Nawaz Sharif’s first international trip after three years of stay in London.

    Sources told ARY News that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam will visit different European countries. The PML-N leadership and its family will stay in Europe for a week, sources added.

    It is pertinent to mention here that the federal government on November 10 issued a diplomatic passport to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The passport was issued after clearance from the Foreign Ministry, sources said.

    The passport has been sent to PML-N supremo via Passport and Immigration office.

    The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government suspended the PML-N leader’s passport after he was declared an absconder by the court. The PML-N leader was issued a regular passport earlier.

    LONDON: In a late-night development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who was supposed to head to Pakistan on Friday night, has extended his stay in London for a couple of days, ARY News reported on Saturday quoting sources.

    Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached London on Wednesday on a private visit after attending Climate Implementation Summit in Sharm Al Sheikh, Egypt.

    Sources privy to the development told ARY News that PM Shehbaz has extended his stay in London for one more day and the premier will now return to Pakistan on Sunday or Monday.

    During his stay in London, PM Shehbaz held several rounds of talks with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif during which key political issues came under discussion.

    This is PM Shehbaz’s third trip to London since he assumed the country’s top office in April and comes ahead of the appointment of the new army chief.

    Meanwhile, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed Friday that consultations were held on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) appointment in the meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.

    Reacting to the speculations in the media regarding the army chief’s appointment, Asif confirmed that consultations were held on the COAS appointment, however, the decision was not taken yet.

    Asif said that the decision for the COAS appointment will be taken after consultation under the constitutional process.

    In October, PM Shehbaz Sharif had said he is ready for talks with the former premier and PTI chairman Imran Khan but ruled out a consultation on the appointment of the COAS.

    Daily Mail defamation case: Shehbaz Sharif ordered to pay £30,000 legal cost

    LONDON: The United Kingdom (UK) High Court of Justice has directed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to pay the legal cost in the Daily Mail defamation case, ARY News reported on Friday.

    The British High Court of Justice ordered Shehbaz Sharif to pay £30,000 legal cost by November 23 in the Daily Mail defamation case. Moreover, Sharif’s son-in-law Ali Imran was also ordered to pay £27,055 legal cost.

    Earlier, it was learnt that the British court rejected PM Shehbaz Sharif’s plea for an indefinite adjournment in the Daily Mail defamation case.

    According to details, Shehbaz Sharif’s Daily Mail defamation case was heard in the London court by Justice Matthew Nicklin.

    The court while rejecting Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s request for indefinite adjournment refused to give more time to the applicant.

    The lawyers took a position that the prime minister of Pakistan is busy, and more time should be given for the submission of answers, on which Justice Mathew Nicklin remarked that in his court, the prime minister and the common man are equal.

    It may be noted that PM Shehbaz Sharif and his son-in-law Ali Imran have not yet been able to respond to the defense of Daily Mail in court. In case, if Shehbaz Sharif fails to respond in the case, he will have to pay the legal expenses to the Daily Mail.

    What Daily Mail published?

    Reportedly, the British paper has claimed that Shehbaz and his son-in-law’s assets skyrocketed after he ascend to Chief Ministership. Ramzan sugar mill has also been mentioned in the response, the sources say.

    “We had asked the Shareef family’s opinion before publishing the story” Daily Mail claims.

    LONDON: The meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif concluded in London, citing sources, ARY News reported on Thursday.

    The meeting of PML-N central leadership continued for approximately 3.5 hours and was also attended by Maryam Nawaz, Khawaja Asif, Malik Muhammad Khan, Suleman Shehbaz and Hussain Nawaz.

    After concluding the consultation session with Nawaz Sharif, PM Shehbaz left the PML-N leader’s residence in London.

    PM Shehbaz Sharif did not interact with the journalists who were waiting for a post-meeting briefing. When questioned about the latest revelations about the slain senior journalist Arshad Sharif, Maryam Nawaz expressed sorrow.

    In a short discussion with the journalists, the PML-N supremo confirmed possessing a diplomatic passport for a long time.

    The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had suspended the PML-N leader’s passport after he was declared an absconder by the court. The PML-N leader was issued a regular passport earlier.

    It was learnt that the premier is currently staying with his son in London and he will depart for Pakistan tomorrow.

    Not a single PML-N leaders briefed the media about the decisions taken in the London meeting today.

    PM Shehbaz had reached London on a private visit on Wednesday after attending Climate Implementation Summit in Sharm Al Sheikh, Egypt. The ruling political party is expected to receive directives from Nawaz Sharif over some crucial matters.

    Earlier, the ruling coalition had dismissed PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s demand for early elections, saying only the coalition parties will decide when to hold elections in the country.

    According to details, slogans saying ‘You cannot kill Imran Khan’ were wall-chalked outside Hassan Nawaz’s office in Marble Arch area of Central London.

    It is pertinent to mention here that overseas Pakistanis lodged a complaint with London police against PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif over the latter’s alleged involvement in attack on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan.

    In the complaint, the overseas Pakistanis called the PML-N supremo ‘mastermind’ behind the assassination attempt on PTI Chief. “The assassination attempt on Imran Khan was planned in London,” read the complaint.

    The counsel of the petitioners said that PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah were also nominated in the complaint. “The London police have assured to action by giving the crime reference number,” he added.

    Imran Khan and several other PTI leaders were injured after a man opened fire near the PTI reception camp at Allahwala Chowk during party’s long march.

    Earlier in the day, Imran Khan announced to resume Azadi Long March from Tuesday. He said the march will resume from Wazirabad and he will address the long march participants on daily basis from the hospital.

    He said Azadi Long March will reach Rawalpindi in 10 to 15 days, where he will physically join the march. Khan invited the masses to join their protest and break the shackles of fear.

    The former premier condemned the alleged objectionable video leak of party Senator Azam Swati and went on to say that the video is not fake and should be investigated.
