    PTI parliamentary party rejects Omar Ayub’s resignation

    ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary party on Friday rejected the resignation forwarded by party’s secretary general Omar Ayub Khan.

    The decision was taken during a parliamentary party meeting of PTI and SIC at the Parliament House. The meeting was attended by Omar Ayub Khan, Barrister Gohar, Asad Gohar, Ali Muhammad Khan and other party leaders.

    The parliamentary body through a resolution rejected NA opposition leader’s resignation as PTI secretary general. The resolution also paid rich tribute to the NA opposition leader for running the party’s affairs during testing times.

    The huddle also decided to send a message to the PTI founder about the decision of the parliamentary party.

    The PTI leader on Thursday night, resigned from the party’s post.

    According to details, Omar Ayub, who is also leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, stepped down from the party’s position. He also wrote a letter to the party’s founder, Imran Khan, announcing his resignation as PTI Secretary-General

    He announced his resignation through a post on X, making it public.

    “I am grateful to the founder PTI for accepting the resignation as Secretary General,” he posted. Omar Ayub said that he tendered his resignation on June 22 to the party Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan that Shibli Faraz conveyed his message to the PTI founder in jail.

    SC orders closure of Monal restaurant, others in Margalla Hills

    ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday ordered the closure of Monal and all other restaurants in the Margalla Hills National Park in Islamabad. 

    The Supreme Court bench led by CJP Justice Qazi Faez Isa while rejecting the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) report, ordered the administration to close all restaurants including Monal in Margalla Hills National Park within 90 days.

    SC in its verdict said National Park cannot be used for commercial activities. The apex court also said to consider affected restaurants in land leasing outside the National Park.

    Earlier during the hearing of Monal Restaurant case, Chief Justice (CJ) Justice Qazi Faez Isa said that the apex court had sought a report on several other restaurants as well.

    He said there was also a mention of the Sports Club Pak-China Center and Arts Council National Monument in the report. “This shows the CDA officials’ honesty,” he said.

    “Does the SC building also lie in the Margalla National Park; does the CDA office also lie in the same park?” he questioned, and said, “If that is the case, then it would be better if the Authority ordered the demolition of its own building.”

    Justice Isa remarked the whole world knew how many restaurants were built alongside the Monal Restaurant. “It is only the CDA, which is clueless.”

    Raoof Hasan attack case registered in Islamabad

    Islamabad police on Wednesday registered case into attack over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) spokesperson Raoof Hasan by transgender persons, ARY News reported.

    Four individuals – who were apparently transgender persons – launched the assault. The assailants used a sharp blade to target the PTI leader, inflicting injuries on his face.

    The case was registered at Aabpara police station at the complaint of Raoof Hasan under charges of attempt to murder and others.

    The PTI leader in his statement in the FIR stated he was stopped by a transgender person in the Blue area of the federal capital when he was returning after recording a TV programme.

    “Transgender person attacked with a sharp instrument when I stepped back,” the FIR read. The attackers fled the scene after people gathered at the crime scene.

    Raoof Hasan further said in his statement that he has no enmity with anyone.

    In response to the assault, PTI senators staged a walkout from the Senate session on Tuesday, protesting the attack on their party’s spokesperson.

    Senator Shibli Faraz, Opposition Leader in Upper House of Parliament, condemned the attack on Hasan, saying, “Unknown individuals have attacked our party’s spokesperson. We demand a response from the Interior Minister in the Senate.”

    The PTI senators walked out of the session, demanding action against those responsible for the attack.

    ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Ali Amin Gandapur has ‘banned’ entry of Governor Faisal Karim Kundi in the KP house as a block reserved for the governor has been abolished.

    Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Adviser Barrister Saif has confirmed the development.

    Saif said the decision, taken during the latest meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet, aims to address the pressing accommodation issues faced by ministers and members of the provincial assembly.

    The now-defunct governor’s annexe will be repurposed to accommodate the needs of provincial assembly members and ministers.

    Barrister Saif said that alternative accommodation is being arranged for Governor Faisal Karim Kundi at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House. In the interim, the governor is advised to stay at Sindh House.

    After a war of words between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for several days, the former on Sunday vowed to extend all possible support to provincial government for resolving issues of people rather than indulging in confrontation.

    Addressing a press conference at Kundi Model Farm, he said that after taking oath as governor, he always wanted to work for the betterment of people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including former Fata. “I repeatedly wished to work together with the provincial government for the development and welfare of the province,” he said.

    PTI issues show-cause notice to Sher Afzal Marwat

    ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a show-cause notice to Sher Afzal Marwat for making irresponsible statements, ARY News reported.

    As per details, the notice was issued by PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan and asked Marwat to explain his statements within three days, which have been deemed damaging to the party’s reputation.

    The notice states that such statements are against the party’s discipline and violate the clear instructions of the party’s founder, Imran Khan, who has emphasized the importance of responsible behavior.

    Marwat was warned that failure to respond or provide a satisfactory explanation may lead to further disciplinary action.

    Earlier, Sher Afzal Marwat, who was recently replaced by Waqas Akram for Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman slot, was also been removed from party’s political committee

    Sources told ARY News that Marwat, who had strongly criticised his party colleagues, was also expelled from the PTI’s WhatsApp group.

    Prior to this development, it was reported that PTI founder Imran Khan, who is incarcerated in Adiala Jail, is disappointed with party leader Sher Afzal Marwat over ‘irresponsible behaviour’ and refused to meet him.

    Sources further claimed that Marwat’s statement regarding Saudi Arabia’s involvement in PTI government’s ouster and meeting with Defence Minister Khawaja Asif are believed to be the reasons for Imran Khan’s displeasure.

    Marwat earlier claimed that the party colleagues Shibli Faraz and Omar Ayub hindered his meeting with the PTI founder in jail.

    He alleged that Shibli Faraz and Omar Ayub in cahoots with the jail administration obstructed his meeting with the party’s founder. “Jail Superintendent told me that the PTI’s founder wants to meet me separately,” Marwat said.

    “When I come for meeting today, the jail superintendent didn’t allow me to meet him,” he said. “My meeting with the PTI founder was extremely necessary,” he said.

    “I am announcing as protest that I will not work with them,” he said. “I will come for protest when the PTI founder will entrust me the responsibility,” he added.

    It is pertinent to mention here that PTI’s political committee approved Sheikh Waqas Akram’s name for chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

    PTI to ‘invite’ Fazlur Rehman to join opposition alliance

    ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) decided to approach the Maulana Fazalur Rehman-led Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) to invite the latter for movement against the government, ARY News reported.

    The well-known sources revealed that former Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, who is also the head of the PTI’s negotiation committee, held an important consultation with the party members.

    The PTI’s senior leadership once again decided to approach Maulana Fazalur Rehman and invite him for a joint struggle against the ‘massive’ rigging in the general elections.

    The PTI had also decided to expand talks with other opposition parties that are part of the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuze Ayeen-e-Pakistan.

    It is worth mentioning here that Maulana Fazalur Rehman also advocated for allowing the PTI to hold public gatherings, emphasising the importance of democratic rights.

    In his first speech in National Assembly (NA) on Monday after elections 2024, the JUI-F chief said that it is right of every political party to hold peaceful protest. “I consider their (PTI) demand for permission to hold public gathering rightful,” Maulana Fazalur Rehman.

    Earlier on April 4, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan hinted at joining a sit-in announced by the Moulana Fazalur Rehman-led Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazlm (JUI-F) against the government.

    Speaking at ARY News programme “Khabar Meher Bukhari Kay Sath”, Barrister Gohar said that the Grand Opposition Alliance would be launching anti-government movement after Eid-ul-Fitr.

    “Moulana Fazlur Rehman would also be approached to join the Grand Opposition Alliance. We and the PTI are in touch and hope we will be meeting as well, Barrister Gohar added.

    He said that the opposition parties’ protest would be aimed at strengthening the parliament as well as against mandate ‘theft’. “We want no mandate to be stolen in future also,” Barrister Gohar said.

    ISLAMABAD: An alleged agreement between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and PTI-Nazriati group regarding election symbol has surfaced, ARY News reported. 

    The agreement surfaced after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chalked out a Plan B by directing its party candidates to submit tickets on the symbol of ‘batsman’.

    Sources within PTI confirmed the agreement saying that it was signed by both parties on December 30, 2023.

    The agreement stated if PTI retains the election symbol “Bat” then both parties will jointly contest elections otherwise PTI and PTI Nazriati will contest the upcoming polls on the “Batsman” symbol.

    Furthermore, all the members of PTI Nazriati will follow the instruction of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and no candidate of both parties will contest elections against each other, the agreement stated.

    The document said that PTI Nazriati will field its candidates in seven constituencies and PTI will welcome the Nazriati group head Akhtar Iqbal Dar if he decides to join the party.

    Earlier today, after sensing the danger of losing its iconic symbol ‘the bat’, PTI directed its candidates to file nominations under the PTI-Nazriati group, where the election symbol is ‘batsman.’

    The chairman of PTI-Nazriati, Akhtar Iqbal Dar, issued tickets to PTI’s candidates on the symbol of batsman, sources said.

    Furthermore, PTI directed candidates to register complaints with the district, provincial, and central election commissions if ECP refused to accept their tickets.

    PTI also instructed candidates to submit written complaints to the district and provincial election commissioners.

    However, PTI-Nazriati Chairman Akhtar Iqbal Dar distanced himself from issuing his party tickets to Imran Khan-led PTI, accusing the latter’s candidates of submitting ‘fake’ party tickets to returning officers (ROs).

    After sensing the danger of losing its iconic symbol ‘bat’, PTI has directed its candidates to file nominations under the PTI-Nazriati group, where the election symbol is ‘batsman.’

    The chairman of PTI-Nazriati, Akhtar Iqbal Dar, has issued tickets to PTI’s candidates on the symbol of batsman, sources said.

    Furthermore, PTI has directed candidates to register complaints with the district, provincial, and central election commissions if ECP refuse to accept their tickets.

    PTI has also instructed candidates to submit written complaints to the district and provincial election commissioners.

    PTI officials emphasising on Plan B believe that the ‘bat’ and ‘batsman’ symbols are similar, making it easier for voters to identify with PTI.

    As per the election schedule, candidates are bound to submit party tickets before Jan 13.

    Back in June 2022, PTI initially never wanted the “batsman” symbol allocated to its splinter group. It urged the ECP in June 2022 not to allot the symbol to PTI-Nazriati, arguing that it would create confusion among the voters. However, the ECP did not entertain PTI’s request.

    PTI-Nazriati was established in January 2012 after Dar developed differences with PTI founder Imran Khan, claiming that the PTI had become a party of turncoats.

    ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa received a warm welcome from the staff upon his arrival at the Supreme Court on Monday. 

    Justice Qazi Faez Isa took oath as the 29th CJP in a ceremony held at the President’s House on Sunday.

    In his interaction with the SC registrar and other judicial staff, CJP Qazi Faez Isa asked them to serve the masses coming to the court for justice.

    “People come to SC for justice,” the CJP said. The Islamabad police were to give a guard of honour to the newly appointed CJP, but he denied it.

    Earlier, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa appointed Ms Jazeela Aslam as the first-ever woman Registrar of the Supreme Court (SC).

    Justice Qazi Faez Isa on Sunday took oath as the 29th chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) at a ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, following the retirement of Justice Umar Ata Bandial.

    He was administered the oath of office by President Arif Alvi. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, top military officials, caretaker federal ministers, senators and foreign ambassadors, attended the ceremony.

    Justice Isa will serve in the top judicial office until October 25, 2024.

    ISLAMABAD: Important changes have taken place in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) and the Judicial Commission as Justice Qaiz Faez Isa took oath as the 29th CJP.

    As per details, Justice Ijazul Ahsan has become a part of the SJC, while Justice Sardar Tariq is already a part of the council.

    As per the Constitution, the CJP and the two most senior judges are part of the SJC.

    On the other hand, Justice Muneeb Akhtar has joined the Judicial Commission mandated with the appointment of judges. Justice Sardar Tariq, Jusitce Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Mansoor Ali Shah are already part of the commission.

    According to the Constitution, the CJP and four senior most judges are part of the commission that is responsible for appointing judges to the superior judiciary. Other members of the commission include a retired judge, the law minister, and the attorney general for Pakistan.

    A member of the Pakistan Bar Council is also part of the Judicial Commission.
