Asif Zardari announces to join anti-govt movement of JUI-F

ISLAMABAD: Former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Monday announced to join anti-government movement being initiated by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman, ARY News reported.

Asif Ali Zardari, while talking to journalists outside an accountability court in Islamabad, hinted that the political party will join Fazlur Rehman’s forthcoming campaign against the present government.

The former president claimed, “I do not think that the [present] government could be able to complete its five years.”

He added, “Insha Allah! We will join the political movement of Maulana Fazlur Rehman.”

When asked a question by a journalist regarding his opinion for supporting Nawaz Sharif seeking permission for his medical treatment in London.

He answered, “May Allah grant health to all. If it is needed than he should go and where would he go.”

To another question, Zardari said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the national economy cannot go side by side.

In the latest development earlier in the day, after two bankers, another suspect in the mega money laundering and fake accounts reference expressed his willingness to become approver to testify against former president Asif Ali Zardari, his sister Faryal Talpur and other accused in the case.

One of the suspects Sher Muhammad offered to become approver to testify in the case. Earlier, two accused, Kiran and Noreen, employees of a private bank, had requested the court to allow them to testify as witnesses. They told the court that they had already submitted a request to the NAB chairman in this regard prior to the hearing adjourned till May 9.
