The authorities in the US have listed Food Network’s ‘Worst Cooks in America’ host Anne Burrell’s death as suicide.

According to a report by the New York Times on Thursday, the New York Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has concluded that the celebrity chef’s death was caused by “acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine”.

Anne Burrell, who shot to fame for serving as host of ‘Secrets of a Restaurant Chef’ and ‘Worst Cooks in America,’ died on June 17.

At the time, local authorities said that the celebrity chef was discovered unresponsive in her Brooklyn home and was pronounced dead at the scene at the age of 55.

While a spokesperson for the New York Police Department said that Anne Burrell may have died due to a heart attack, as claimed by the 911 caller, the city’s Chief Medical Examiner has listed her death as suicide.

The revelations about her death come just days before Food Network releases the final season of ‘Worst Cooks in America,’ featuring Anne Burrell.

The upcoming season, ‘Worst Cooks in America: Talented and Terrible,’ premieres on July 28 and will feature “recruits who are professional performers accustomed to stealing the spotlight, but when it comes to the kitchen, they’re serving up disasters.”

Food Network has revealed that the final season of the show will be aired to pay tribute to Anne Burrell.

“Anne Burrell was a one-of-a-kind talent whose loss is being deeply felt by family, friends and fans,” said Betsy Ayala, Warner Bros. Discovery head of food content.
