LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Health Dr. Yasmin Rashid on Wednesday announced that 11 ambulances and other medical equipment worth Rs200 million were being gifted by the Punjab Health Department to the people of Gilgit Baltistan (GB) as a good will gesture.
This she stated in a press conference followed by a meeting with GB Governor Raja Jalal Hussain at Primary and Secondary Healthcare department today.
According to a statement issued from Directorate General Public Relations Punjab, the ambulances and equipment would help improve health services being provided to the people of GB.
As per details, the health package for the people of GB included seven automatic Elisa, nine chemistry analyzers, four digital radiography, nine X-ray film processors, 22 dental unit components, 22 dental instruments, seven bio-chemistry analyzers, four c-arms, 30 cardiac monitors and 70 cardiac beds besides 11 ambulances.

The statement further said that quota for the students of GB in Punjab’s nursing colleges had been increased to 55.
Availability of the best healthcare facilities in such areas was the need of the hour, Dr. Yasmin Rashid said and added that the government of the Punjab would soon establish a state-of-the-art trauma center for the people of the area as well as for the tourists which would provide modern healthcare facilities to the patients in case of any emergency.
On the occasion, GB governor said that he was thankful to the Punjab government especially Dr. Yasmin Rashid for this health package for the people of GB. He said that health package of Rs200 million would greatly help improve the healthcare facilities in GB.
