The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notices to Adiala Jail officials for allegedly failing to arrange a meeting between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir issued the notices while hearing a contempt of court petition filed by CM Gandapur.
Gandapur’s counsel, Advocate Raja Zahoor ul Hassan, told the court that the jail authorities had denied the meeting with PTI founder, in defiance of the IHC’s clear orders issued in September and October 2024.
“Despite clear directions from this court, the meeting was not allowed,” the lawyer said. “We visited Adiala Jail last week, but the meeting did not take place.”
The petition requested the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the jail superintendent and other officials.
The court issued notices to the Adiala authorities, seeking their replies, and adjourned the hearing. The next date of hearing will be announced later.
