Sources reported that the power plants of K-Electric were shut down after suspension of power supply from the national grid.
The areas that were affected include Jinnah Hospital, Karachi Airport, Saddar and many other residential areas of the metropolis.
K-Electric spokesperson said that the power breakdown took place due to tripping in the transmission line.
He further said that maintenance is underway to restore electricity in the city, which can take upto four hours.
