  • Sindh government announced closure of all private and public educational institutions including schools, colleges and universities on Thursday.
  • At around 8 PM on August 20, many areas of Karachi including Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, and Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Razzaqabad, Shah Latif Town, Bhains Colony, Kathore, Gadap, M-9 Motorway, Nooriabad, and Ahsanabad experienced intense rainfall.
  • At around 2:30 PM on August 20, Karachi witnessed a short but heavy spell of rain in Saddar, Shah Faisal Colony, Scheme 33, Malir and Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
  • Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, in a press conference, earlier in the day urged the residents of the metropolis to stay at home and maintained that the roads inundated with water due to heavy rain yesterday have been cleared.
  • Murtaza Wahab said that the city’s drainage system is prepared for 40mm rainfall
  • At 3:15 PM, Nazimabad, Federal B Area, Defence, Clifton and adjoining areas also received heavy showers.
  • Even after 24 Hours, many of the city’s residential areas like Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Nazimabad Block B and Banaras are without power.
  • At least 15 people have been reported dead with “Karachi Floods” being searched internationally. Most recently, a body was found from a nallah in New Karachi area.

  • Heavy rains for past two days saw landsliding in Karachi’s Kati Pahari area forcing the citizens to look for cover and stay indoors.
  • Liaquatabad, Model Town, Korangi, Model Town saw most damage due to recent rains with totally inundated roads.
  • Korangi Causeway has been closed to traffic due to heavy damage.
  • Nazimabad Underpass, a main artery, has also been closed for traffic as it is totally submerged in rainwater.
  • A shop selling firecrackers on M.A. Jinnah Road caught fire on August 21.
  • Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab urged the citizens to stay at home after heavy rain lashed parts of Karachi at about 5 PM on August 21. Malir, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Saddar, North Karachi, Surjani Town and other areas started receiving rainfall which has not stopped till the filing.
  • At Around 7PM on August 21, 2025, Met Department said that many areas of Karachi may receive heavy rain in next three hours.

The Weather Channel predicts considerable clouds early, giving way to partly cloudy skies later, with temperatures ranging from 89°F to 82°F. Westerly winds will strengthen to 15 to 25 mph, and hazy conditions will linger, though no significant rainfall is expected, offering a reprieve from the previous day’s showers. It’s only corruption, lack of responsibility and ignorance the reason behind the recent and past floodings in the City of Karachi faces everytime after heavy rains for few minutes, it’s one major city that holds most Business activities and considered as an economical hub of the Country..but sadly people responsible to govern don’t have the will neither they have the sense of foreseeing threats which the City has already witnessed.
