Heatwave conditions to persist this week: Met Office

ISLAMABAD: Met office predicted that the heatwave conditions likely to continue in current week under the influence of a high pressure in upper atmosphere.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) in a weather report said that the day temperatures are likely to remain 04 to 06°Celsius above normal in Sindh, southern Punjab and Baluchistan from 20th to 24th May.

Daytime temperatures likely to remain 05 to 07°Celsius above normal in central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan) upto 24th May.

Duststorms or gusty winds are expected at isolated places in plain areas owing to excessive heat during the period.

Experts have advised general public especially children, women and senior citizens to observe caution due to heatwave conditions.

Avoid exposure to direct sun light during the day time and remain hydrated.

Rising temperatures in northern areas may enhance snowmelt rate during the forecast period.
