FIA arrests begging gang kingpin sending women to Saudi Arabia

FAISALABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in a raid arrested kingpin of the begging gang involved in sending beggars to Saudi Arabia, a spokesperson stated.

“The FIA composite circle Faisalabad conducted a raid in Chak 216 and arrested leader of the organized begging gang,” spokesperson said.

“The arrested man has been identified as Mohammad Ghafoor,” FIA spokesman said.

“The gang was trapping women, promising them free Umrah pilgrimage and later force them for begging,” FIA stated.

The accused along with accomplices smuggled five women to Saudi Arabia. “They were demanding Rs. five lac as ransom money from each woman for sending them back to home,” FIA spokesman said.

FIA seized a mobile phone and other evidence from the accused during the raid.

The agency conducting raids for arrest of other accomplices of the accused.
