Special committee formed to evaluate FIA’s performance

TOP NEWS

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior has decided to assess the performance of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), ARY News reported.

As per details, a five-member special committee has been formed to conduct a performance audit of the FIA.

The committee, headed by the Director-General of the National Police Bureau, will review the FIA’s performance in various areas, including the number of cases registered and suspects arrested.

The committee will also examine the FIA’s efforts in combating human trafficking, corruption, corporate crimes, and cybercrimes.

The report will be submitted to the Ministry of Interior, which will then take necessary steps to improve the FIA’s performance.

The development came after PM Shehbaz Sharif removed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General Ahmad Ishaq Jahangir from his position over unsatisfactory performance.

The Establishment Division issued a notification in this regard, stating that Jahangir was made OSD following approval from the premier.

The decision was taken in line with directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who had expressed resentment for reportedly not presenting a detailed report on Greece boat incident, which had claimed lives of several Pakistani nationals.

The premier directed to appoint an experienced officer from police service as new DG FIA.
