KARACHI: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in a letter has demanded the election commission to de-seat its 28 dissident UC chairmen, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
The PTI’s parliamentary leader in Karachi Municipal Corporation Mubashir Hafeezullah has written a letter to the election commission.
The PTI has demanded the electoral body to de-seat its 28 UC chairmen including Waseem Abdul Waheed, Tahir Pervaiz, Imran Parwani and Asad Aman.
The party’s list of dissidents also included its members on special seats in KMC council, Sanobar Farhan and Uzair Siddiqui.
“The dissidents have violated the party’s instructions in Mayor’s election; thus, we demand to de-seat them,” PTI letter read.
Earlier, the PTI had served show-cause notices to the UC chairmen, who were absent during the election of Karachi’s mayor and deputy mayor held on June 15.
PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh had issued notices to 29 Union Committee chairmen.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) candidate Murtaza Wahab was elected Karachi mayor, securing 173 votes through a show of hand.
JI’s candidate Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman secured 160 votes in the election held at Pakistan Arts Council under strict security.
According to the entry register 332 elected members of the KMC reached the polling station, while 34 members remained absent.
