HBO has just announced a “Game of Thrones” prequel on Tuesday.

The new spinoff titled, “House of the Dragon,” will be set some 300 years before the GOT Season 1 and will delve into the story of House Targaryen. With the tagline, “Fire will Reign,” House of the Dragon will be based on George R. R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood.”

Daenerys Targaryen aka Emilia Clarke was an integral part of the mothership series, which just ended earlier this year.

Ryan Condal collaborated with R. R. Martin for the series. Condal and Miguel Sapochnik will be the showrunners of the new series.

Sapochnik, known for directing several episodes of GOT will helm the project.

President of programming HBO, Casey Bloys said, “The ‘Game of Thrones’ universe is so rich with stories. We look forward to exploring the origins of House Targaryen and the earlier days of Westeros along with Miguel, Ryan, and George.”

Moreover, this series is said to be different from the prequel that has Naomi Watts in it.

House of the Dragon will officially mark HBO’s first followup to the acclaimed Game of Thrones, which has just won an Emmy Award for the best drama series last month.
